The Loave family is a notable fictional family created by fan within The Sims series, initially comprising John and Jane, who were introduced as one of the starting families in The Sims 2.

The Loave family was conceived by Jonathan on May 22, 2009, featuring a single father, John Loave, his daughter Jane Loave, and their golden retriever, Toby. They resided in Pleasantview. Jonathan randomly selected the surname Loave for them, establishing an active household in The Sims 2. Although the name "Loave" evokes images of fish and bread, the family members were neither born in a bakery nor at sea.

Jonathan intended for the surname to be pronounced as “Lo-aaa-ve,” reflecting a sense of affection, but his sister corrected him, indicating it should sound like “Loaf,” as in bread. Initially embarrassed by the name, he contemplated changing it but ultimately decided to retain it. The Loave family has since grown and has been featured in every installment of The Sims series, including The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4.
